PRP Injections

Platelets in our blood help the blood to clot and promote healing. Platelet-rich plasma injections are used to treat tendon, ligament and muscle injuries as well as the inflammation of osteoarthritis.

A small amount of your blood is taken from you and placed in a centrifugation device. This separates the platelets from the blood.

The platelets are then injected into the area which needs treatment. Because there is a high concentration of platelets this should promote faster healing. You might need several injections which will be administered two or three months apart.

The procedure usually takes less than half an hour and afterwards you can resume your daily activities.
